September 13, 2006 Great Lakes Barn Preservation, LLC 6611 One Mile Road Hesperia, Michigan 49421 Reference: Jan & Randy Foco’s 130 Year Old Barn Restoration Location: Hale Michigan Subject: “A Great Big & Sincere Thank You” Dear Sam & Peggy, We would like to sincerely thank you for a job well done. You do this everyday for a noble livelihood; we’re only going to do this once in our lifetime. You gave us an “end product” better than we imagined. We scrutinized many of the structural details with you and chose Great Lakes Barn Restoration based upon the knowledge and verbal commitment to detail and schedule that you conveyed. The result is totally satisfactory. The 5’ deep concrete piers are exactly what we wanted. The four-ply glued & timber-locked posts, that were “scarfed onto” the deteriorating posts, gave new life to 100 year old supports. The leveling and straightening came out great. The new 1” x 8” white pine siding is solidly secured with the 3½ nails. Aesthetically, the gable shaped louvers and the slidng track windows are fantastic…providing light, air circulation and style. The new giant barn doors that slide so smoothly make the difficulties of working in an old barn disappear. The diligence with which you, John, Greg and crew attacked the schedule is to be applauded. Three weeks from start to finish is a week & a half better than what you originally promised. At no point did we ever question that speed was compromising the craftsmanship. On the contrary, we felt that you, John, Greg, Henry and Daniel displayed craftsmanship that one would expect in a home. Thank you for all your efforts in bringing new life to a 130 year old barn. And thank you for being dedicated to restoring the historic landscape of Michigan. And to you, Peggy, your photo album is shown to all who comment on how beautiful our new “old” barn is. It warms our heart every time we look though it. Sincerely, Jan & Randy Foco Actual Letter |
